Celebrity Whips

Twice or so a year we report on celebrity whips. Getting colloquial for you - a whip is a ride, and a ride is a car. If you’re going to relate to your 16-year-old niece, talking whips is a positive start. Celebrities count on lots of dough, and that dough many times ends up invested in homes and cars. We don’t blame them, if you’re single, 26, and making $30 million per year, there’s going to be a hankering for the finer things in life.

We’re going to take a look at some of the more interesting celebrity whips in this series, take note!

Kendall Jenner

If you don’t recognize that name, she’s one of the Kardashians and an all-around pop culture influencer. Kendall could have any car in the world, like most on this list, and indeed has more than one. But one of her prized favorites is a sweet 1965 Ford Mustang convertible. It doesn’t sound overly “flashy,” but 65 was a banner year for the Mustang convertible, and Jenner has been spotted by paparazzi multiple times rolling around in this beauty.

Drake

Another celebrity with unlimited purchasing power, Drake has been photographed in a host of different vehicles. But a go-to staple in his auto arsenal is a Mercedes-Maybach G 650 Landaulet. At its core, the Landaulet is a G-Class pickup with a soft top and a roaring 621hp V12. Good grief! But perhaps even more interesting, this car doesn’t have a price-tag. Yes, you read that right. Mercedes never announced a price on this ride, and this move alone has generated even more interest from celebrities and folks with cash. After all, if you need to ask how much, odds are you can’t afford it.

Michael Fassbender

Nobody transitions from Drake to Fassbender with such dexterity as this blog. You might remember Fassbender from Inglourious Basterds, X-Men, or 12 Years a Slave. But what is unknown to many is Michael is also an auto nut and has been participating in major circuit races throughout Europe and North America. Apparently, the guy has talent in this arena and has toyed with making a switch in careers at some point. In the meantime, Fassbender can be spotted in his red Ferrari F12 TdF. It’s a bit tricky to drive which is why you don’t see many on the road. But for a guy who’ll be competing in the 2020 European Le Mans Series, a 780hp V12 sounds right up his alley.

Lady Gaga

“Gaga, oh, la-la!” Don’t be embarrassed, you know the lyrics. We all do, and while Gaga has more loot than she likely knows what to do with, the Lady has chosen a sentimental favorite to run around in with her Ford F150 SVT Lightning. Literally, the most popular car in the world, the F150 has been selling like gangbusters for decades now. Now to be clear, Gaga’s version is a SVT Lightning, so not your typical F150. It’s got a 5.8-liter V8, but with only 240hp there must be something sentimental to this car for Gaga.

King Charles

There are only a handful of manufacturers one could theoretically imagine King Charles riding in. Those would be Jaguar, Bentley, Range Rover perhaps, and Aston Martin. While he likely has one or two of each, one of the King’s most beloved cars is the Aston Martin DB6 Volante. While this car is indeed a solid pick, King Charles took it a step further and had the car outfitted to run on biofuel. And to top it off, the King’s biofuel is made from English wine! A classic British sports car with a twist, well done King.

Elon Musk

The easy pick here would be just another Tesla. And while Musk has got a lot of them, and some really cool custom models, we’re going to go with a serious head-turner, but only if you find yourself underwater - the Lotus Esprit Submarine. Musk might as well be James Bond at this point. The guy is rich, smart, good-looking, charismatic, and has his own submarine. Case closed! Elon shelled out in the neighborhood of $700,000 for this sub, the same one that was used in the Bond movie The Spy Who Loved Me. While a bit dated, Musk plans on turning this into an electric sub in due time. Doubt him at your own risk.

Justin Beiber

We can’t have a celebrity car list without the Canadian crooner. Mr. Beiber burst on the scene as a teenager and quickly gained a following from his Youtube videos. It didn’t take long for a major record label to sign the Beibs, and now in his 20s, he’s worth more than your humble scribe could make in 10 lifetimes. But we’re not bitter, not when we can live vicariously through Justin and his beloved Lamborghini Urus. A popular model among singers, the Urus has been featured in a series of rap videos, but none are like Beiber’s Urus. Hot pink vinyl wrapping is the first thing you notice when Justin hits the streets with his Urus, and there only appears to be one like this. If you’re Justin, exclusivity is everything.

Beyonce

We go from the current Prince of Pop (Beiber) to perhaps the Queen of Pop - Beyonce. The Houston native jumpstarted her career with the famed group, Destiny’s Child. Managed by her mother, it was clear early on that Beyonce was a budding star, and would eventually take her career the solo route. Once she teamed up with Jay-Z and became the most successful pop/rap marriage, it shouldn’t have come to anyone’s surprise that a 1959 Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud Series II Drophead would eventually enter the mix. This car screams class and pizazz, and while the $1 million price tag might be a bit excessive for some, for Beyonce this was likely a small percentage of her monthly income. A little-known fact - Beyonce didn’t purchase this ride. Jay-Z gifted it to her for her birthday. That beats chocolates any day!

Chris Pratt

Marvel superhero movies are extremely lucrative. So are Jurassic Park remakes and the host of other movies and TV series Chris Pratt has stared in. While he might not have Beyonce money, he’s certainly a star in his own right, and as such has the dough to cough up for any ride he wants. With that said, you might be surprised at the car we’re about to feature. Pratt holds his 1965 VW Beetle in a special place. A car that is priced in a range that nearly anyone could afford, Pratt treats this thing like his baby. He won it a blackjack game and has had it restored multiple times over the past decade. It’s a great story and good for him for hanging on to it.

Cardi B

Few female rappers have risen as quickly to fame as Cardi B. Mrs. B had been rapping for some time in her native New York as was known in the local club scene. But, she couldn’t seem to catch a break. Well, that break occurred with her first hit single and the ascension has been meteoric ever since. Cardi can get her pretty hands on any whip she wants. But the whip of choice, among her many prized auto possessions, is none other than the classic Bentley Bentayga. Cardi already has a Lambo Urus and a Mercedes-Maybach S650, but she apparently has a soft spot for the Bentayga. Let’s hope her young kids appreciate all these rides. Growing up in this auto-centric house will be a blast!

Clint Eastwood

When we read what car Eastwood held near and dear we had to chuckle. You will too, as it’s not a Porsche, Ferrari, Lambo, or Bentley, but rather, a Fiat. A Fiat! Folks aren’t too sure why Dirty Harry is choosing to roll around in a Fiat 500e. It’s an odd choice for a “manly man.” One might assume a large SUV or even an F150. But Clint apparently likes the practicality of the 500e, the gas mileage, and the fact you never need to worry about parking with this car. It’ll fit into nearly any spot!

We had to leave off some deserving celebrities, but don’t fret. We’ll return to celebrity whips at some point. They’re constantly providing new material!
